Sri Vijaya Puram, October 5, 2026: Chairman of the Campaign Committee of the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC), Shri TSG Bhasker, has raised concerns over the reported large-scale deletion of voters following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and has demanded an immediate review of the exercise.

According to figures cited by Bhasker, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency had 3,27,323 electors during the 2024 Lok Sabha Election, while the present roll following the SIR reportedly contains around 2,58,040 electors. He described this as a reduction of 69,283 electors, or 21 per cent.

Bhasker questioned the implications of the reported deletions and stated that if these voters were ineligible, the sitting Member of Parliament from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands should immediately resign, arguing that the MP was elected on the mandate of these votes.

Demand for resignation at the national level

Bhasker also claimed that more than 13.3 crore voter names have been wiped out in the SIR across the country.

On this basis, he argued that if the same principle applied nationally, the government at the Centre should also resign, as it was elected from a mandate that included these voters.

These are political arguments made by Bhasker in connection with the SIR exercise and are presented as his position.

Demand for booth-wise details

Bhasker has demanded that authorities make public booth-wise details of the deleted names, along with the reasons for each deletion.

He said this would allow affected citizens and political parties to verify the electoral-roll exercise and examine the deletions.

Demand to cancel SIR and restore earlier rolls

Bhasker has further demanded:

  • Cancellation of the SIR process in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands
  • Restoration of the original electoral rolls
  • Publication of booth-wise deleted voter details
  • Disclosure of the reason for each deletion
  • An opportunity for affected citizens and political parties to verify the exercise

The statement comes amid wider political debate over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and the scale of voter-name deletions.
