Johnsy Rani, an accused in a case involving alleged financial irregularities linked to the QNET multi-level marketing (MLM) business, has reportedly been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody following five days of police remand.

According to information available about the proceedings on Friday, the court ordered her transfer to judicial custody after hearing submissions from both sides. She was subsequently taken to Prothrapur Jail.

Investigation into alleged investment fraud

The case is being investigated by the Crime and Economic Offences Police Station following complaints from individuals who allege that they were misled into investing substantial sums of money through the scheme.

According to the allegations described in the report, complainants were promised attractive returns and valuable products in exchange for their investments. They have alleged that the value of the products received did not correspond to the amounts they paid. Some have also claimed that earning income depended on recruiting additional members into the network.

These claims remain allegations and have not been independently established in this report. The case remains subject to investigation and judicial proceedings.

Further legal proceedings may follow

The reported remand order marks the latest development in the case. Further proceedings, including a possible bail application, may follow.

Judicial custody means that an accused person is held in custody under a court order; it does not amount to a finding of guilt. The allegations against Rani will be subject to the legal process.

Authorities have urged people to exercise caution before investing in schemes promising unusually high returns and to report suspected financial irregularities to the appropriate police authorities.
