Sri Vijaya Puram, September 17, 2026: A new youth-led social and civic platform, the Islanders Youth Front (आइलैंडर्स यूथ फ्रंट), was formally constituted in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on September 17, with its founding members stating that the organisation will work on youth empowerment, civic awareness, social service and issues concerning Islanders.

According to the organisation's founding statement, 13 young leaders, social activists and civic-minded citizens came together for the founding assembly and unanimously resolved to establish a pan-Andaman & Nicobar youth organisation. The proposed name “Islanders Youth Front”, put forward by Siddhanth Rai Sharma, was unanimously accepted by the founding members.

The organisation said its objective is to provide a common platform for young people from different parts of the Islands to identify community issues and participate in constructive social activities.

Focus on youth and civic participation

The Islanders Youth Front said it plans to work in areas including education, skill development, leadership, health, sports, community engagement and civic awareness.

It also said it would promote what it describes as national unity, patriotism and civic responsibility among young Islanders, while encouraging their participation in community and developmental activities.

According to the founding statement, the organisation intends to raise issues affecting Islanders before appropriate authorities through lawful, democratic and constructive means. It also plans to engage with government departments, agencies and other institutions to improve awareness about youth-oriented schemes, programmes and opportunities.

Cultural and heritage focus

Preservation and promotion of the Islands' cultural, historical and social heritage has also been identified as an area of work.

The organisation said awareness programmes and community activities would be used to encourage greater understanding among young Islanders about the history, identity and heritage of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Founding office-bearers

The founding assembly unanimously appointed the following office-bearers:

  • President: Siddhanth Rai Sharma
  • Vice-Presidents: M. Vinesh and Richardson AB. Nathan
  • General Secretary: Ayush Raj
  • Treasurer: Swagatham Das
  • Media & IT In-charge: Ritis Ram
  • Additional Joint Secretaries: Ram Mayank and Shubham Poddar
  • Executive Members: Akansha Deshmukh, E. Ankita, Himanshu Kumar, Pavan Adarsh and Partiv Sen

These members constitute the organisation's founding Central Body, according to the statement.

Addressing the gathering, newly appointed President Siddhanth Rai Sharma outlined the organisation's aims and objectives. He said the platform would seek to bring young Islanders together beyond individual differences and encourage them to contribute their time, ideas and abilities towards society and the Islands.

The founding proceedings concluded with the 13 members formally declaring the organisation constituted and taking a collective pledge to work towards its stated objectives. The gathering concluded with the chanting of “Vande Mataram,” according to the statement.

The Islanders Youth Front described itself as a newly established social, national and patriotic youth organisation based in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It said its areas of focus would include youth unity, social service, welfare, empowerment, civic awareness, education, skill development, sports, cultural and heritage awareness, and raising local issues through lawful and constructive democratic engagement.
