Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair), Andaman & Nicobar Islands | 28 July 2026

As part of their ongoing "A Moment to Make Andaman Better" campaign, Mukta Dhara Society, in collaboration with Dweep Tulika News, has launched a citizen participation initiative encouraging residents to report instances of littering in public places.

The initiative seeks to involve the public in promoting cleanliness and environmental responsibility by documenting littering incidents in a safe and responsible manner. Citizens who witness littering are requested to record the incident from a safe distance using their mobile phones and share the video with the organisers through Instagram, along with the date, time and location of the incident.

According to the organisers, all submissions will be reviewed and verified before being considered for awareness campaigns or public reporting. The initiative is intended to encourage civic responsibility, promote environmental awareness and support efforts to maintain the natural beauty of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

The organisers have clarified that only verified incidents may be used to raise awareness and encourage accountability. Participants are advised not to confront individuals involved in littering and to prioritise their personal safety while recording any incident.

Mukta Dhara Society and Dweep Tulika News have appealed to residents, students, tourists and community groups to actively participate in the campaign and contribute towards building a cleaner, greener and more responsible Andaman.
