The claims were reportedly linked to global supply concerns following tensions around the Strait of Hormuz. Videos circulating online showed long queues at petrol pumps, with several individuals alleging disruption in fuel supply and possible shortages.
However, the situation was later clarified by petrol pump authorities, who termed the rumours as misleading and baseless.
According to the branch manager, there is no shortage of fuel in Swaraj Dweep and sufficient stock is available to meet public demand.

“There is no need to panic or stock fuel. Supply is adequate, and the situation is under control,” the manager said.
Authorities have appealed to the public not to circulate unverified information on social media and advised citizens to rely only on official updates to avoid unnecessary panic.
The incident once again highlighted how misinformation online can rapidly create public concern even when the ground situation remains stable.
